The Shepherd Sees R’vi’i Exodus 3:1–15 “Now Moshe was tending the sheep of Yitro his father-in-law, the priest of Midyan. Leading the flock to the far side of the desert, he came to the mountain of God, to Horev.” —Exodus 3:1 Moshe stands at the mountain of God! To find this spot, “on the far side of the desert,” required Moshe to search far and wide. The mere fact that Moshe oversees the flock so far from Yitro’s camp shows great trust. The flock is literally “the ranch,” Yitro’s capital in toto.
